Aerial photograph of Moche (Mochica) royal pre-Columbian tomb excavation at Sipan, Lambayeque Valley, Northern Peru. The key royal figures are called warrior priests or the Lord of Sipan. The pyramid or platform (huaca) is excavated by archeologist Walter Alva. The huaca is built of adobe mud bricks. The Sipan tombs are the richest archeological excavation site ever found in the Americas or New World. The Moche culture began about 200 B.C., lasting to about 1000 A.C.
